Spicy Stick Meat

Overview

Stick meat is Nigerian street food snack at its finest—think meaty, spicy, fried and then threaded onto skewers with a side of fresh tomatoes, sliced onions..Hmmm! what a delight! 

A local favorite in West Africa, just like suya, stick meat is a traditional street food that has been tantalizing taste buds for decades. Though it may look similar to suya, which developed in Northern Nigeria, stick meat is a dish with a distinct delightful taste. You would be hard-pressed to find an African who does not know about stick meat, or love the familiar stick meat.

Thinking of conjuring up this lip smacking dish for that special one or trying out something spicy for your Saturday night hangout? Here’s the perfect recipe for you to make magic happen!

Ingredients

 

STEPS

1.Slice your onions

2.Slice your red, yellow and green peppers into small bits

3.Wash your tomatoes and pepper and put them in a blender

4.Add onion to the tomatoes and blend well

  1. Add beef to pot
  2. Add curry, thyme, seasoning cubes, salt, ground garlic and ginger and chopped onions
  3. Stir well and leave to cook until tender
  4. Put aside your beef stock and place your frying pan on fire
  5. Pour in your vegetable oil
  6. Place beef in pot and fry well, once fried, remove the meat and put in a bowl to cool.
  7. Pour blended pepper to the oil used to fry the meat, stir well and leave to simmer for 15 minutes
  8. Add beef stock to the mix
  9. Add ground ginger, garlic and salt
  10. Pour in fried meat and stir well
  11. Add chopped red,yellow and green bell peppers and stir well
  12. Turn off the heat and put the meat on sticks.
  13. Garnish the sticks with whatever ingredient that works for you

  2. Add orange juice
  3. Add oats and peeled bananas
  4. Blend properly

  1. Rinse and slice bell peppers and onions
  2. Wash chicken and place in a pot on heat
  3. Add seasoning, ground garlic, ginger, onions, salt, curry, thyme
  4. Allow to cook until meat is tender
  5. Add mayonnaise and lemon juice in a blender and blend well
  6. Slice up chicken in medium bit in a serving tray
  7. Garnish with chopped onions and sliced bell peppers, orange and groundnuts
  8. Sprinkle blended mix of lemon juice and mayonnaise and enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

 

STEPS

  1. Rinse the Bell peppers, Onions and Habanero and cut into chunks - this will make blending process easier for the blender.
  2. Blend the Peppers and Onions a little at a time adding very little water while blending because the excess water is not needed.
  3. Rinse the assorted meat and put in a pot
  4. Add seasoning cubes, salt, onions and a little water and cook until meat is tender
  5. Put another clean pot on fire and pour in palm oil
  6. Bleach palm oil and let it cool off
  7. Add boiled meat and stir
  8. Add crayfish and boiled meat and stir
  9. Add locust beans and stir. Leave for few minutes
  10. Add blended pepper and stir properly
  11. Add meat stock and chopped onions and stir
  12. Leave stew to fry
  13. Put water in a clean pot and let it boil
  14. Rinse ofada ride and pour into boiling pot
  15. Cook until rice is soft
  16. Serve hot and enjoy!
